  7. 6 More Private and...

Zanzibar is one of the most beautiful and exciting tourist destinations in the world. However, some people might seek a more private or peaceful alternative. These people can choose to visit other secluded East African islands near Zanzibar and enjoy an unforgettable holiday!

While Zanzibar is an exciting and promising destination, these alternatives may be preferred by tourists seeking more relaxation or a more private experience. The following island and coastal destinations are affordable, welcoming, and beautiful, and offer a unique, remarkable vacation!

1. Lamu Island, Kenya

Lamu is an island smaller than Zanzibar. It is a better option for those who wish to visit a place with lesser tourists. It is home to 23 mosques, a donkey sanctuary, and the Lamu fort which was built in the early 1800s. Tourists can visit many heritage sites, look at the wonderful Swahili architecture, and visit the Lamu Museum which displays great examples of Swahili culture. There is no motorised transport on Lamu.
