Kisumu is a beautiful port city situated on Lake Victoria. It’s a great place for tourists with all kinds of interests – it has some amazing museums along with a beautiful beach where you can relax and be with nature.

Here are some of the museums you should definitely visit in Kisumu:

  1. Kisumu Museum

If you’re in Kisumu with kids, you should head over to the Kisumu Museum to give them an educational experience on your tour. The museum itself has many incredible artefacts for you to discover. The museum also has a Luo village that’s focused on the culture of the Luo/Lwa tribe. The guides there will tell you more about the cultures and traditions of this tribe. The tribesmen and women also perform cultural dances at the village with traditional music in the background.

Not only is this place an amazing museum, but it’s also home to a snake park and an aquarium!

  1. Abindu Community Cultural Centre

This outdoor museum/cultural centre is a must visit. It’s a shrine where Christians come to pray. The scenery here is also very beautiful and it’s an amazing place for birdwatching. You get wonderful views of Lake Victoria.

These two are the most interesting museums you’ll find in Kisumu that you must pay a visit to! Other smaller museums/sites to visit include Kisumu State House, Prof R.T. Ogonda’s Residence and the Kit Mikayi shrine. Each of these places has a beautiful history behind it that you can learn more about by visiting them.
