David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust

The wildlife trust was established to protect and raise orphaned baby elephants and rhinos. According to the website, the trust has rescued over 250 elephants. The rehabilitation program is designed to support and help babies in their natural habitat. Furthermore, they also provide veterinary care for the animals. The trust is also open to tourists and visitors that want to see and interact with the baby elephants and rhinos.

 

Karura Forest

The Karura Forest covers over 2,500 acres of land. It is a vast and beautiful forest, split into three segments by two roads. It is a beautiful and expansive forest that you can explore with guided tours. You can trek the forest or even book a mountain bike tour. You will see various exotic species, including the fruit bat, colobus monkeys, bushbuck, porcupine, African civet, and many more. The Karura Forest is the perfect outdoor adventure.

 

Ngong Hills

Ngong Hills is another popular destination to explore on foot or on a bike. The hills are located just outside of Nairobi and will take 40 minutes to reach by car. You can find tour guides that provide a complete package, including guided treks through the hills and pick-up/drop-off services to and from your hotel.  There are many attractions to explore during the hills, including a wind-energy power site, high-altitude sports training areas, views of the Great Rift Valley, and scenic spots to have the perfect picnic.
