History of ZanAir
The history of ZanAir begun on the 4th of May 1991, when Carl G. Salisbury arrived on Zanzibar with a Piper Seneca 2. While working as a pilot, he realised that the tourism industry on Zanzibar was going to expand and decided it was an opportunity he was not willing to miss out on.
After just a year, he founded ZanAir, which is now the cornerstone of the Island with over 25 years of experience transporting tourists too and from Zanzibar. Even after 2 and a half decades Carl is still the Managing Director of ZanAir and is committed as ever in his journey to expanding tourism on the island of Zanzibar
Where can ZanAir take you?
With Zanzibar as their hub, ZanAir is able to connect travellers to Pemba as well as other destinations on the mainland. ZanAir operates scheduled flights to Dar Es Salaam, Zanzibar and key specialised safari destinations. ZanAir offers a full charter service as well as other specialised operations upon request.

Coming soon – ZanAir takes to the night sky
From mid-July onwards, you'll have even more options when flying to and from Zanzibar. ZanAir will introduce night flights into Zanzibar and of course, they will be available for booking on Tripindigo. Flight from Zanzibar to Dar Es Salaam at 19.00 and Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar is at 20.00 will soon be available.
Top Tip! If you do have the luxury of time or keen on booking last minute travel deals then ZanAir is the ideal airline for you. ZanAir offers big discounts to travellers booking 3 days prior to depature which they call "Breezy Fares". These last minute booking fares can be discounted by as much as 50%
