Pick Up and Drop Off Information

Car Rental: most vehicle pickup and drop-off is done at the airport or ferry port in Zanzibar Town. However, Zanzibar Express will deliver / pickup your vehicle/s anywhere on the island. Pickup and drop-off within Stone Town, Zanzibar Town, Airpot and Ferry port is free.

When mnaking your booking online, you’ll have the opportunity to select a location and time for both pickup and drop-off.

Fuel Allowances and Where to Buy

All vehicles have a minimum amount of fuel at the commencement of the period and should be returned in the same state. If you return the vehicle part full, you will not be reimbursed for fuel at the end of the period. Rental does not include any fuel allowance unless specifically agreed with us in writing before the commencement of the rental period.

There are numerous filling stations around the island manned by pump attendants. We recommend that you check that the pump is reset before filling takes place, and that you check the reading before handing over money.

Accident and breakdown Policy

You’re covered! Zanzibar Car Hire insures its vehicles for registered drivers with a Zanzibar Driving Permit. The driving permit is provided when you pick up your vehicle.

If in an accident, preferably remain with the vehicle if safe to do so and call the company straight away. You’ll have their contact details for 24 hr assistance.

In the unlikely event of a breakdown, 24/7 assistance is available. If the probelm cannot be quickly resolved at the roadside, you’ll be given a replacement vehicle immediately to keep the wheels of your vacation rolling.
